MoeChics owner Debbie Movroydis talks about her business

How long have you been in business?
Opened Shop April 3, 2024.
Is this your first business?
what directed you to your
present location?
Not my first business. I owned an interior commercial interior design and contracting business in the early to mid 90s.x
How did you get started?
I started doing stained glass in 2017 then got into glass fusing and soon my garage became my studio full of kilns, glass and equipment for glass art fabrication. I sold online and had glass art classes in my garage. I started to sell my items in a local shop for a short period and fell into an opportunity to open my own shop and it just blew up from there. I still create my art to sell, but now I represents many other artists.
What changes have you
seen over the time open?
Initially my intention was to have an Art Gallery, Women’s Apparel Boutique and Vintage Department. Now, in addition to those, I carry an extensive line of high-quality minerals, fossils and crystals as well as a Christmas department and a Tea Room. I want to always enhance the shop to offer the customers a variety to pique their interest.
What do you most Love about your Industry?
I love to be surrounded by art, creativity, natural and handmade beauty. It brings me so much joy to
see customers enjoy the shop.
What are some of the common myths you come across in your business?
People think because I own a business that I have an extensive and expansive income.

Most of the classes available right now
are glass fusing classes where a customer
can create a piece in glass and pick it up
after it has been fused in a kiln off site.
Price is determined on the amount of glass used in the project. We also offer wine
glass painting classes.
Do you have any upcoming events
at your location?
MoeChic first year anniversary is April 3, 2025. Throughout the month of April, we will offer specials throughout the shop.
A Makers Mart will be held on the property on May 10 and September 20, and we will participate in the events.

The calm and artistic vibe that you get when you walk into the space.
How many employees/Family
work with you?
Joan Skimmons helps in the shop on Wednesdays and Fridays. Joan retired from owning her own art gallery “The Rivers End Gallery” for 19 years. Along with working at MoeChic 2 days a week Joan has been working more on her own art and has established notoriety in the art community along with having many of her pieces in the shop.
What are you most grateful for?
The start of the shop was not a plan, it’s as if opportunities were placed in front of me. Such as meeting Joan. I am so grateful for these opportunities that have come my way and I want to do good with them.
Who/what can you credit your growth?
I think the growth is coming from advertising of course but most of all word of mouth from a good experience that a customer has had in the shop. That is my #1 goal: “give the customer a good experience.”
What plans do you have
for your business’ future?
To cultivate the 2 new departments in the shop, “The Tea Room” and The Crystal, Minerals and Fossil Department.
